A Scary Summer Night is a short film that I created entirely on my own, from the initial idea to the final editing. This project was born spontaneously during an evening spent with friends. At that time, I was 15 years old and I was discovering filmmaking intuitively, using whatever resources I had available.
This film represents my first real personal audiovisual project. Without any academic framework or specific technical constraints, I decided to embark on making a short film on a whim, experimenting with the tools available. This endeavor marks my first steps in audiovisual creation.
The filming was done with a tablet and simple lighting, just a flashlight, which strongly influenced the film's aesthetic. These technical constraints led me to make specific visual and narrative choices to create a nocturnal and mysterious atmosphere. The editing was done on CapCut, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by this tool.
The film relies on a dark and immersive atmosphere, built through the interplay of light, framing, and editing rhythm. Despite limited resources, I sought to tell a story and create visual tension, using night and darkness as narrative elements.
Looking back, I consider this film more of a first experience than a finished project. Today, I'm aware that I could create this type of project with greater technical and narrative skill. However, this short film remains essential in my journey, as it demonstrates my desire to create, experiment, and see a personal project through to completion.
This project allowed me to gain practical experience in the different stages of audiovisual production: filming, directing, editing, and storytelling. It marked the beginning of my interest in film and audiovisual media, and demonstrates my ability to take initiative, work independently, and progressively develop my skills.
