As part of SAE 1.01 of the BUT MMI program, I participated in a group project focused on auditing short film festivals. The objective of this project was to analyze the organization and communication strategy of these festivals in order to understand their challenges, strengths, and areas for improvement.
Our work began with a research and observation phase. We studied the identity of the festivals, their target audiences, their programming, and their communication materials. This step allowed us to better understand the festivals' positioning within the cultural and audiovisual landscape.
We then conducted an in-depth analysis using methodological tools, including the SWOT matrix. We also worked on studying the target audience and creating a mood board for the Toulon Tout Court festival, in order to develop a comprehensive and coherent vision of the project.
Based on these analyses, our group proposed a reflection on the organization of the festival and its communication strategy. We highlighted the festival's strengths and weaknesses, as well as areas for improvement in terms of visibility, positioning, and audience engagement.
As part of this project, we also designed a conceptual poster depicting an iceberg. This visual metaphor illustrates the difference between what is most visible in the SAE (Student Activity Program) and all the less noticeable but essential work that takes place behind the scenes (analysis, strategy, organization, target audience research, teamwork). The choice of the iceberg makes the complexity of a cultural project more understandable and symbolic, by showing that the most important part of the work is often invisible at first glance.
This project allowed me to develop skills in teamwork, cultural project analysis, and communication strategy. It also taught me how to structure an audit process and connect concrete observations to strategic proposals, within an audiovisual context.
